A ceremony to mark the 65th Anniversary of World Meteorological Day was held at the Ministry of Transport and Communications in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday.
State Administration Council Member Deputy Prime Minister Union Minister for Transport and Communications General Mya Tun Oo, Union Ministers for Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation, for Science and Technology, and for Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement attended the event, along with deputy ministers and officials from relevant ministries.
SAC Member DPM Union Minister General Mya Tun Oo delivered a speech at the event.
After his remarks, attendees viewed a video message from WMO Secretary-General Professor Celeste Saulo and a video clip commemorating World Meteorological Day.
The General presented awards to the first, second, and third prize winners in the article competition. The General, along with the attendees, viewed the displays of Department of Meteorology and Hydrology.
In the afternoon, staff members of the MoTC, MoALI, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation, the Ministry of Electric Power and the Ministry of Education discussed 18 papers on meteorology, hydrology and seismology.
