The Minbu Township New Development Department announced that during the Shwe Settaw Pagoda Festival, visitors can enjoy the natural beauty of the forest, streams, and waterfalls from the Mann Chaung Recreational Elephant Camp at the Minbu (Saku) Township in Magway Region.
The Shwe Settaw Mann Chaung Recreational Elephant Camp is located in the 700-acre Pandaung-Pyaw Bwe Daew Pyin Protected Forest near Shwe Settaw Pagoda. It offers clear, cool streams, lush greenery, and beautiful natural beauty, as well as golden deer, tortoises, and many species of birds from the Shwe Settaw Wildlife Sanctuary.
The Shwe Settaw Mann Chaung Recreational Elephant Camp was opened on February 9, 2019 by the Myanmar Timber Industry Minbu District Timber Production Area of Magway Region. The elephant camp was opened with the following objectives: to develop tourism based on elephant conservation, to provide employment opportunities for elephant workers and local people, to promote community-based tourism, to understand the habits and lifestyle of elephants and to develop love for elephants, to create an interest in preserving the beauty of Myanmar’s natural forests and wetlands by opening eco-tourism, to help protect the environment, and to generate income for the country through green business.
Shwe Settaw Mann Chaung Recreational Elephant Camp is only two miles away from Shwe Settaw Pagoda, so after offer Settaw Pagoda, can come to the elephant camp and ride elephants to enjoy the beautiful and peaceful forests and wetlands along Mann Chaung.
