The opening ceremony of the Consulate- General in Novosibirsk, Russian Federation, took place this morning at the Grand Autograph Hotel. The event was attended by SAC Chairman Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, as part of his official goodwill visit to Russia.
The ceremony was attended by the SAC Chairman Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, Joint Secretary of the Council General Ye Win Oo, Council Member General Nyo Saw, Union Ministers U Than Swe, Admiral Moe Aung, Dr Kan Zaw, U Ko Ko Lwin, Dr Myo Thein Kyaw, Bago Region Chief Minister U Myo Swe Win, and senior military officers from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief, Myanmar Ambassador to the Russian Federation U Thit Lin Ohn, Deputy Ministers, Novosibirsk Region Governor Mr. Travnikov Andrey Aleksandrovich, Russian Ambassador to Myanmar, members of the Novosibirsk City Government, the Myanmar Consulate General and officials from the Consulate General, trainee officers from Myanmar who are studying in Novosibirsk, and invited guests.The ceremony began with the playing and salute of the National Anthems of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar and the Russian Federation.
Next, Deputy Prime Minister and Union Minister for Foreign Affairs U Than Swe delivered the opening speech, highlighting the 77 year diplomatic ties between Myanmar and Russia. He emphasized that the establishment of the Myanmar Consulate General in Novosibirsk marks a historic milestone in bilateral relations. As a key economic, trade, scientific, technological, industrial, and financial hub in Russia’s Asian region, Novosibirsk is the only Russian city with direct flights to Myanmar. The Consulate General was inaugurated to strengthen connections between Russian citizens in the Novosibirsk region and Myanmar, enhance mutual understanding, and provide consular services to the Myanmar community in the area.
Next, the Governor of the Novosibirsk region delivered a speech, expressing his delight at the opening of the Myanmar Consulate – General in Novosibirsk.He emphasized that this milestone would create valuable opportunities for collaboration between his city and Myanmar.
He also highlighted the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding to establish sister city relations between Mandalay and Novosibirsk as a significant step in strengthening bilateral cooperation. Committing to further enhancing ties with Myanmar, he extended his best wishes for the continued development and prosperity of both nations.
Then, the Mayor of Novosibirsk, Mr. Maksim Kudryavtsev, delivered a speech.
Then, the SAC Chairman Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, the Deputy Prime Minister and Union Minister for Foreign Affairs U Than Swe, and the Governor of Novosibirsk Region, Mr.Travnikov Andrey Aleksandrovich, cut the ribbon to open the Consulate General.
Then, the Deputy Prime Minister and the Union Minister for Foreign Affairs presented gifts commemorating the opening of the Myanmar Consulate General to the SAC Chairman and the head of the Novosibirsk Region.
Then, the SAC Chairman and those attending the ceremony from both Myanmar and Russia took a group photo for documentation.
After that, the SAC Chairman arrived at the Myanmar Consulate General in Novosibirsk and was welcomed by the families of the Consulate General’s staff. Then, the SAC Chairman sprinkled incense on the signboard of the Consulate – General.
Following the ceremony, the SAC Chairman met with the families of the Consulate-General’s staff and trainee officers currently undergoing training in Novosibirsk. During the discussion, the SAC Chairman emphasized the importance of strengthening friendship and cooperation between Myanmar and Novosibirsk, expressed a commitment to boosting trade relations, and outlined plans to send more scholars to study at universities in Novosibirsk.
Additionally, the SAC Chairman inquired about the needs of the Consulate General’s staff and families and trainee officers and took steps to address their concerns.
Then, the SAC Chairman presented food and stipends to the families of the Consulate General’s staff and trainee officers.
Afterwards, the SAC Chairman signed the Consulate General’s guest book and greeted the families of the Consulate General and the trainee officers.
