Local news and some residents in Kachin State report that four women have been brutally killed during this early March.
The incidents occurred between March 1 and 5. On March 1, a man in Sitapu Ward, Myitkyina, fatally slashed a 25-year-old woman with a knife. On March 3, a drunken man attacked a woman with an axe in a house near Chanthargyi Monastery in Rampu Ward, Myitkyina. The woman, believed to be in her thirties, died instantly after being struck three times in the head. On March 4, residents of Injandon Ward, Myitkyina, discovered a woman’s body wrapped in a plastic bag in a garbage dump in front of School No. (6) and alerted the authorities. According to the local social welfare association, the woman’s face showed signs of slight damage.
On the morning of March 5, another incident occurred in Waing Maw Township, Kachin State, at a house in Ward (5), where a woman was found brutally murdered with six stab wounds to her neck.
The murder likely took place on the night of March 4, and around 7 a.m. today, family members reported the death of the woman to the authorities. In response, the relevant authorities contacted the Munn Myat Sein Society for Social Welfare, requesting assistance in transporting the body. The organization then delivered the body of the woman, who was in her early forties, to Waing Maw Hospital in accordance with the proper procedures.
