Chairman of the State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, who is on an official goodwill visit to the Russian Federation, met with the Governor of St. Petersburg, Mr. Alexander Beglov, at the government guesthouse K2 in Saint Petersburg on the afternoon of 5 March. The meeting was attended by the Senior General, the Joint Secretary of the State Administration Council General Ye Win Oo, SAC Member General Nyo Saw, Union Ministers, the Chief Minister of Bago Region, Myanmar Ambassador to the Russian Federation U Thit Lin Ohn, senior military officers from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief, the Myanmar Military Attaché (Army, Navy, Air), and other officials. Also present were the Governor of St. Petersburg, the Ambassador of Russia to Myanmar, and officials from the St. Petersburg government.
During the meeting, both 19 exchange of views regarding the opening of the Myanmar Consulate General, aimed at fostering stronger interaction and cooperation between Myanmar and St. Petersburg. Discussions also covered ongoing developments across various sectors, including healthcare, education, transportation and communications, tourism, industry, and trade, as well as the construction of Theravada Buddhism monasteries and pagodas in St.Petersburg. Following the meeting, the Senior General and the Governor of St. Petersburg posed for documentary photos.
Later in the evening, dinner was hosted in honour of the Senior General and goodwill delegation by the Governor to mark the opening of the Myanmar Consulate General in St. Petersburg. After the dinner, the Senior General presented cash awards to the entertainment troupes that performed and extended his warm greetings.
