Chairman of the State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, who is on an official goodwill visit to St. Petersburg, Russian Federation, met with the families of the Myanmar Consulate General in St. Petersburg, Russian Federation, at the Myanmar Consulate General this morning.
The meeting was attended by Joint Secretary of the Council General Ye Win Oo, Council Member General Nyo Saw, Union Ministers U Than Swe, Admiral Moe Aung, Myanmar Ambassador to the Russian Federation U Thit Lin Ohn, the Myanmar Consul General in St. Petersburg, and family members of the staff.
First, the Senior General and members of the delegation arrived at Myanmar Consulate General and were welcomed by the families of the staff of the Consulate General.
Then, the Senior General and members of the delegation sprayed the signboard of the Consulate General in St. Petersburg with perfume and inspected the Consulate General.
Then, the Senior General met with the families of the employees of the Consulate General and the officer trainees studying in St. Petersburg. First, the Myanmar Consul General explained the information about the Consulate General, the work of the employees, and the status of the trainees attending the training. The Senior General asked questions and fulfilled the needs.
Then, the Senior General made a speech, saying that this was his fourth visit to St. Petersburg, and that he had learned about the importance and historical traditions of St. Petersburg. Therefore, the Senior General said that he had previously intended to open a Myanmar Consulate General in St. Petersburg. The Senior General said that St. Petersburg has many factories and is a transportation hub.
Similarly, the Senior General said that education is good. St. Petersburg is a good city for connecting with our country. Now, airlines are flying directly from Mandalay to Novosibirsk, Russia. Plans are being made to expand flights to St. Petersburg. The issues we need to work on regarding Russia should be completed in a timely manner. The Consulate General family is working for the benefit of our country and the relations bet ween the two countries, so they are carrying out important responsibilities. Therefore, there is a need to check, recheck, and counter-check to ensure that there are no gaps in the work and that it is completed on time. It is necessary to continue to present and act on issues that are beneficial to the country and those that are not.
We are working on improving relations with the Russian Federation, and we are cooperating in the areas of economy, education, health and social issues. Regarding the economy, we want to be able to export our country’s products to Russia. Since we are located in a remote location, we want to be able to export products that are cost-effective. In doing so, we need to improve communication and speed up our work.
We mainly produce raw materials in our country and also carry out CMP garment manufacturing. We also produce raw materials of rubber. We can export raw materials of rubber and rubber products. We can also export rice, coffee, tea and other agricultural products, as well as forest products. We need to find markets for our country’s rubber products in St. Petersburg. St. Petersburg has good healthcare and medicines, and although our country produces medicines, there is a need for drugs to cure cancer used in hospitals. Therefore, we need to work together to develop technologies for the production of these cancer drugs in our country. We need to work to gain experience in healthcare. We also need to work to allow Myanmar scholars to attend universities in St. Petersburg in science and technology. Russia is also at the top in sports, so we need to work with Russia to promote Myanmar sports.
The Consulate General needs to provide systematic education for students studying at Universities in St. Petersburg and meet the needs of the students. We need to complete the training period within the specified time. The students also need to study hard.
The Senior General also advised the staff working at the Consulate General to study the Russian language, which would be beneficial, and to use their time productively. After that, the Senior General presented food and honorariums to the families of the Myanmar Consulate General and the trainee officers, and said a cordial farewell.
