The government has cracked down on criminal activities in border areas including online gambling and scams effectively and, today, detained 150 more illegal migrants who entered Shwe Kokko and KK Park – Myawady through illegal routes.
Combined teams of relevant departments are collecting their personal information and documents within a day in order to repatriate them to relevant countries as soon as possible.
Between 30 January and 24 February, 2025, a total of 2,370 illegal foreign migrants were uncovered and detained and 673 of them have been repatriated to relevant countries through Thailand in accordance with the law, rules and regulations. The remaining 1,697 illegal migrants are ready for repatriation. The 2,370 illegal foreign migrants include citizens of China, Indonesia, Vietnam, Malaysia, Pakistan, India, Uganda, Ethiopia, Nepal, Thailand, Rwanda, Kenya, Kazakhstan, Cambodia and China (Taipei) and majority of them are from China.
