Myanmar will continue export of over 20,000 tons of rice to Bangladesh within one week, according to the Ministry of Commerce.
The ATN GLORY vessel is uploading the rice as of early December and will export rice to Bangladesh within one week, an official of the Ministry said MT news agency.
“The vessel is uploading 22,000 tons of rice and a total of 130,000 tons of rice out of the targeted 200,000 tons has been exported. The vessel will leave for Bangladesh this week and the quality assessment team has to conduct evaluation tasks,” the official said.
The government allowed the export of rice to Bangladesh in Chinese Yuan and the FOC price of rice is 2,788.56 Yuan per ton, the official added.
According to the Memorandum of Understanding signed by the Myanmar and Bangladesh governments in September, the Myanmar Rice Federation (MRF) and the Directorate General of Food from Bangladesh inked sales contract to buy 200,000 tons of Ahmahta rice.
The MOU between the Myanmar and Bangladesh governments will expire in 2027.
