Peace Process Steering Team (PPST) will meet the State Administration Council before holding meeting with ethnic armed organizations in Nay Pyi Taw, Colonel Khun Okka, a member of PPST, said MT news agency.
A leading team led by RCSS was formed with seven EAOs to meet the SAC last week of November, he said.
The leading team includes Restoration Council of Shan State (RCSS), New Mon State Party (NMSP), Democratic Karen Buddhist Army (DKBA), Karen National Liberation Army (peace council) (KNU-KNLA(PC)), Pa-O National Liberation Organization (PNLO), Lahu Democratic Union (LDU) and Arakan Liberation Party (ALP).
Colonel Khun Okka said: “We are in the organizing phase to meet with PPST and EAOs. We have informed the SAC and are preparing to say to understand the issues. But we have not still told officially. We will meet informally and organized the team three days ago. We will implement the meeting not later than second week of January.”
“If we meet SAC, we will hold the meetings, made negotiations and implement the peace process. We will continue to pave the way for NCA and solve the political problems through political way. Now, the SAC suspended the military operation with AA and we will carry out more than they did. The leading team is a platform for EAOs. We are organizing each group to participate in the team. We met KNPP and will meet KIO, Chin and KNU. We have to start from the base step to participate in the team,” he added.
With the aim of carry out the political negotiation with the government, PPST was formed with NCA-signatory ethnic armed organizations in 2016.
