According to official records released by the Central Bank of Myanmar(CBM), as fuel prices have continued to rise, the CBM decided to sell an additional 20 million USD to fuel oil entrepreneurs, resulting in a total of 45 million USD being sold to the fuel oil sector in January.
On January 10th, fuel prices increased compared to early January, with 92-octane gasoline rising by 90 kyats per liter, 95-octane gasoline by 65 kyats per liter, regular diesel by 95 kyats and premium diesel by 115 kyats per liter. At that time, the CBM announced on January 13th that it would sell 25 million USD to fuel oil entrepreneurs.
However, today, January 30th, fuel prices have risen again. The price of 92-octane gasoline has reached 3,130 kyats per litre, 95-octane gasoline 3,200 kyats per litre, regular diesel 2,865 kyats per litre, and premium diesel 3,525 kyats per litre. Compared to the beginning of January, 92-octane petrol has increased by 145 kyats per litre, 95-octane gasoline by 105 kyats, regular diesel by 250 kyats, and premium diesel by 300 kyats per litre.
As a result, today, the CBM announced that it will sell an additional $20 million to fuel oil entrepreneurs. Therefore, the total amount of dollars sold to the fuel oil sector in January to 45 million USD. Additionally, the CBM has sold a separate 1 billion USD to fuel oil, edible oil, and importers over the past six months of the current fiscal year.
Including this additional sale, from January 2nd to 30th, the CBM has sold over 153 million USD to fuel oil entrepreneurs and importers within the month.
