According to initial reports, armed men from the People’s Defense Organization – Oktwin ambushed the Joint Security Forces on patrol, resulting in the deaths of six individuals in Oktwin Township, Taungoo District, Bago Region.
January 18, at approximately 8:40 p.m., in Oktwin Township, Palm Village, security forces patrolling near ThantaiKhin village, along with the police from the Oktwin city police station, were ambushed by the Oktwin PDFs, who opened fire from the darkness of the night.
During this ambush, the People’s Defense Organization – Oktwin, reported that three troops, including one officer from the Joint Security Forces, two police officers and the governor of Ohn Pin village, were killed, while one policeman escaped with injuries.
Also, MA–3 1 gun, MA–11 1 gun, G-3 2 guns, 1 Uzi, 10 assorted MA ammo boxes, one grenade and two knives were confiscated.
It is said that the village of Than Tai Khin, where the Oktwin PDFs were thrown, is also known as the village adjacent to the Oktwin town near the old Yangon-Mandalay road, and it is said that the Oktwin PDFs that threw sticks from the darkness were not harmed in this battle.
In the picture released by the People’s Defense Organization – Oktwin, a member of the security forces is shown alongside a dead civilian and five guns. Ten boxes of ammunition are visible, along with various images of bullets. MT News is still confirming whether six people have died.
