The Minister of Energy, U Ko Ko Lwin, stated that research will be conducted this year to explore new oil fields and natural gas reserves that could potentially be tapped. He mentioned this during his visit to the Myanmar Oil and Natural Gas Research Department in Yangon Region yesterday.
In line with the goal of “2025, the Year of Myanmar Energy,” the Ministry plans to work with universities to carry out research on new oil fields and gas reserves. They aim to produce project-based research papers in collaboration with these institutions and advance to the stage of applied research.
The Minister also emphasized the importance of conducting systematic research and laboratory tests to obtain accurate and reliable results in oil and natural gas exploration.
Additionally, during the third World Petroleum and Natural Gas Conference held in China on November 8, 2024, the Minister met with officials from Sudan, China, and Iran to discuss direct procurement of oil and gas drilling equipment.
