According to Daw Cherry Myint, an Executive Officer of the Myanmar Tourism Entrepreneurs Association (Shwethaungyan Beach), Shwethaungyan Beach in Pathein Township, Ayeyawady Region, welcomed a total of 54,557 visitors, both domestic and international, in December 2024. More than 20 hotels and guest houses on the beach serve visitors all year long.
“Shwethaungyan Beach received 16,546 domestic and overseas visitors in September 2024, 17,857 in October, 24,545 in November and 54,557 in December. The majority of these visitors came for day trips. The beach is also known for its nearby elephant camp, which attracts tourists throughout the year,” Daw Cherry Myint said.
Hotel management at Shwethaungyan Beach is currently taking measures to maintain cleanliness along the beach in front of each hotel, beautify landscapes and roads within the hotel compound, and clean public areas. In addition, local cuisine will be served to hotel guests, and preparations are underway.
Along with security measures for visitors, the beach offers local foods, products, and souvenirs, while bicycles, motorboats, and horses are also available for rent.
