According to the announcement released by the Central Bank of Myanmar(CBM) on January 6(yesterday), the CBM sold an additional USD 25 million and 3 million baht to importers.
On January 2, 2025, the CBM sold USD 25 million, 2.458 Thai Baht, and approximately 680,000 Chinese Yuan, and over 510,000 Chinese Yuan on January 3. Therefore, the CBM sold USD 50 million, 5.329 Thai Baht, and 1.2 million Chinese Yuan during the first week of January.
December is a month when import activities typically increase due to year-end holidays and foreign currency demand, and the Central Bank also sells foreign currencies in bulk. In December, the bank sold $143.250 million, 321.871 million Thai Baht, and 10.978 million Chinese Yuan.
