(10 January 2025)
Esteemed ethnic national brethren in Kachin State,
I frankly extend my greetings to all ethnic national brethren residing in Kachin
State and entire national people living in all over the country to enjoy physical and mental well-being with good aspirations on the significant occasion of the 77th Anniversary of Kachin State Day which falls today.
All ethnic national groups in Myanmar have been residing in the same land in peace and unity since yore through thick and thin sharing the same fortune till today.
Myanmar with ethnic groups in unity has been standing tall in the global community grandly.
After Myanmar has regained independence, the Kachin State Day was designated on 10 January as a gesture of honouring the formation of Kachin State government at the first session of the Kachin State Council Conference held on 10 January 1948.
As the celebration to mark the Kachin State Day has been held yearly, now it turns 77 years.
Kachin State is rich in invaluable natural resources and it is blessed with fine natural environment and fertile soils which contribute much to thriving of crops.
As Kachin State is an origin of streaming the beautiful River Ayeyawady along Myanmar, showcasing the panoramic scenes of the state.
Wonderful mountains capped with snow year-round, the pleasant Indawgyi Lake and the attractive Myitsone river confluence are prominent scenic beauties of the state.
The beautiful state is home to more than 1.5 million population of Kachin ethnic groups such as Jaingphaw, Lachid, Lawwaw, Lisu, Rawam and Zaingwa together with Shan ethnic groups such as Tailon, Taileng, Taikhamti, Taisa and Tailay in addition to other ethnic nationals in fraternity.
The Kachin traditional Manaw festival is an integral symbol of Kachin State Day.
The Manaw dance represents the culture and traditions of the Kachin ethnic group, performed in grandeur with traditional costumes.
Hence, Manaw dance depicts unity of ethnic people from the state and contributes to cementing of peace and stability in the state.
Kachin State is endowed with sound foundations which can improve its economy in practically applying natural resources. Manufacturing finished products with the use of domestic raw materials can improve socio-economic
life of residents and create employment opportunities.
Currently, the State Administration Council is striving for overall development of political, economic and social sectors of the country. Similarly, the government has pledged to continue development of the nation by building a Union based on democracy and federalism and restoring the durable peace across the nation in accord with the Our Three Main National Causes.
The State Administration Council is implementing a point of its Five-Point Roadmap, saying “Continued efforts will be made to promote the state economy and enhance the socio-economic situation of all people through expediting manufacturing businesses rooted in agriculture and livestock to benefit the entire National people.”
The government and Tatmadaw will join hands with ethnic national people to achieve success in shaping a good present with the aim of initiating the peaceful and prosperous future for the sake of the State and ethnic national people.
It is essential for everyone to collaborate in achieving sustainable development through people-centered and inclusive efforts across agriculture, livestock, education, health, communications, and other sectors, to advance the development of Kachin State. It is necessary to place emphasis on adopting the economic framework to sustain and fairly allocate natural resources and encourage development of agriculture and livestock businesses to ensure food security.
Moreover, I would like to urge all to harmoniously manage raw materials, inputs, capitals and technologies which are basic needs for thriving micro-, small- and medium-sized enterprises (MSMAE) and focus on regional development of the state.
The State Administration Council is initiating two political visions which are actual requirement of the state—exercising a genuine, disciplined multi-party democratic system and building a Union based on democracy and federalism.
In doing so, all citizens have to join hands with the government and Tatmadaw in forging peace and stability of the State and restoring durable peace.
As the government is implementing the multi-party democratic system to ensure peace of the Union, it is essential for all to reduce different attitudes based on political, ethnical and religious grounds while striving for peacefully placing the Union on the trends of democracy and Hluttaw management.
If so, political problems can be resolved in political ways. In initiating peace of the nation, only when all ethnic national brethren hold dialogues in political ways with the Union spirit to seek the solutions will they achieve success.
I would like to urge all ethnic national people to forge durable peace among national brethren in harmony and to serve the interests of the State through the united strength as now is the most important to restore the national unity. At present, all ethnic national people are experiencing bitter sufferings on lack of security, peace and stability due to terror acts of some ethnic armed organizations and terrorist groups in the country.
Hence, I would like to urge all ethnic groups and youths with full capacity of physical and mental strengths to stop the actions destroying interests of the State and nationals and to build a modern, developed, peaceful and prosperous Union in unison.
In conclusion, I send this message honouring the 77th Anniversary of Kachin State Day, deeply urging all ethnic people who adore the State and nationals with national spirit together with all ethnic national brethren of Kachin State to participate in initiating the peace foundation in their respective sectors for ensuring peace and stability of the State, forging durable peace, development of the national economy, improvement of socio-economic life, peace and prosperity of entire Union and rule of law.
