3 January 2025
According to a statement released by the Central Bank of Myanmar on January 2 (yesterday), at the beginning of 2025, following the New Year’s holiday office closures, the Central Bank of Myanmar(CBM) sold $25 million, approximately 2.458 billion Thai Baht and about 680,000 Chinese Yuan to importers who typically have a high demand for foreign exchange.
Due to the holiday office closures, imports were completed, and foreign exchange demand is often high in December. During December, the Central Bank sold foreign currencies in bulk, including US dollars, Thai Baht, and Chinese Yuan. The CBM sold up to $143.25 million, 321.871 million Thai Baht, and 10.978 million Chinese Yuan.
