KNU/KNLA Brigade (4) is conducting a clearance operation in the Myeik-Dawei district, and a district official confirmed that 14 Kaw Thu Lay Army-KTLA members have been arrested in Nedda Mya, KNU’s KIC media reported.
KNU’s Myeik-Dawei district secretary Pado Aung Na said that the KTLA cleared three areas controlled by Saw El Kyi because KNLA Battalion (10) and Battalion (12) members were frequently shot at, and there was no security in the area.
“They are in our territory. We have to fight the enemy. On the other hand, they are in the middle and are firing at our leaders and troops, so we have to fight them,” Pado Ana said, according to KIC.
The KNU/KNLA reported that during the clearance operation on December 18, they killed 3 KTLA soldiers, captured 14 others, and seized 17 weapons.
On December 8, KTLA shot and killed Saw Phe Joe, deputy company commander of KNLA Battalion (12), Company (4). In July 2023, KTLA fired on a KNLA vehicle, killing one person and injuring five others, including Major Saw Phoe Si, the KNLA’s military affairs commander.
