The Myanmar Coffee Growers Association said that over 5,000 tons of Myanmar coffee grown locally is exported annually.
Myanmar produces over 9,000 tons of coffee per year and exports over 5,000 tons, and efforts are being made to expand exports.
Myanmar coffee is exported to countries such as China, Thailand, the United States, the Netherlands, Australia, Japan, France, Germany, Belgium, and Switzerland.
Coffee from Pyin Oo Lwin and Ywar Ngan regions has been recognized as world-class Special Coffee.
Myanmar coffee is grown mostly in Shan State, and is also grown in Mandalay, Magway, Tanintharyi, Ayeyarwady, Karen, and Chin States.
Nationwide, there are over 50,000 acres of coffee plantations, with over 38,000 acres of Arabica coffee and over 12,000 acres of Robusta coffee. Harvesting takes place from November to February each year, and exports to the foreign market will begin in April next year.
