According to the Central Bank of Myanmar report released yesterday (December 16), the CBM sold over 28 million USD, 1 million Thai Baht, and over 700,000 Chinese Yuan to importers in the past two weeks of December. Therefore, the total foreign exchange sales during this period have reached over 109 million USD.
Moreover, over 28 million USD, 1 million Thai Baht, and over 700,000 Chinese Yuan were recently sold. The Central Bank also sold over 4 million Thai Baht and around 3.5 million Chinese Yuan on December 13.
From December 2 to December 16, the Central Bank has sold foreign currency to importers, amounting to over 109 million USD, 309.475 million Thai Baht, and 8.746 million Chinese Yuan.
Due to the upcoming New Year’s office holidays and the higher foreign currency demand typically seen in December due to import activities, the Central Bank is continuing to sell USD, Thai Baht, and Chinese Yuan in bulk to meet the main currency needs of importers.
