Mantis shrimps are currently exported to Thailand through Yangon, and demand is rising.
Yangon exports live mantis shrimp and spiny lobsters, as well as dead hilsa fish, to Thailand.
According to a Yangon-based trader, mantis shrimp are highly consumed in Thailand, and traders have expressed interest in exporting them.
“Exporting fishery products is interesting to many traders. The marine resources in Myanmar are plentiful, and my friends have also expressed interest,”said an official from Shwe Pazun Myeik-produced seafoods retail and wholesale distribution.
