According to the Myanmar Hoteliers Association (Ayeyawady Region), Gawringyi Island, located in Nanthapu village, Ngaputaw Township, Ayeyawady Region, welcomed 12,000 domestic visitors in November.
Since early 2015, both domestic and international tourists have been flocking to Gawringyi Island. However, it is still relatively difficult to access, so most visitors use private vehicles.
Most visitors to Gawringyi Island come from Yangon Region and Nay Pyi Taw Council Area, with some also coming from other townships in Ayeyawady Region.
At present, one hotel, five bungalows, and six guest houses cater to the tourist needs of the island and its surrounding areas.
