On humanitarian grounds, understanding the benevolence of the state and in honour of the National Victory Day which falls on 17 November, a total of 5774 prisoners from the prisons/jails from across the country have been released under Sub-section (1) of Section 401 of the Code of Criminal Procedures, SAC released the pardon order.
The State Administration Council Chairman grants pardon and deportation to 4 foreign nationalities namely Mr. Sean Turnell (Australian Citizen) who are an economic advisor of Daw Aung San Su Kyi, Mrs Vicky Bowman (British Citizen), Mr. TORU KUBOTA (Japan Citizen) and Kyaw Htay Oo (US Citizine) who were jailed at respective prisons under Sub-section (1) of Section 401 of the Code of Criminal Procedures, on diplomatic relation with their countries, bilateral relations and humanitarian grounds and in honour of the National Victory Day. They are pardoned on the condition that ‘if they commit another offence, they will continue to serve the remaining sentences”.
In addition, the Chairman of the State Administration Council has released the pardon order to three prisoners namely U Kyaw Tint Swe, U Than Htay, Dr. Lei Lei Maw and grants pardon and deportation to 2 prisoners namely Htein Lin (Artist) and Hsin Ma (a) Zaw Min Htaik (Comedian).
The Chairman of the State Administration Council has released the pardon order to 11 artistes namely Phone Theik (Actor/Director), Phway Phway (a) Shwe Yi Ko Oo (Actress), Hayman Thu Thu Aung (Model), Mai Min Bon (Director), Hsu Mon (Presenter), Ni Ni Khin Zaw (vocalist), Thiha Phyo (a) Ko Bin (Actor), Thazin Htoo Myint (a) The The (Actress), Htet Htet Tun (Model), Nan Khin Zayyar (Actress) and Yon Wati Lwin Moe (Actress) who were serving their sentences in various prisons/jails under Sub-section (1) of Section 401 of the Code of Criminal Procedures, on humanitarian grounds and understanding the benevolence of the stat in honour of the National Victory Day. They are pardoned on the condition that “if they commit another offence, they will continue to serve the remaining sentences
