India’s Mizoram State Police and Assam Rifles intercepted and seized a significant quantity of explosive materials, including PDFs, intended for armed groups in Myanmar on November 6 near Sailiamkawn village in the Serchhip area, as reported by Indian news sources.

The Mizoram State Police and the Assam Rifles, along with two men from Thingsai village in Mizoram, which borders Myanmar, discovered 48 boxes containing 9,600 spent explosives and 94 boxes containing 9,400 detonators on November 6. It was reported that five Detonator-type slingshots used for detonating mines were also seized.

The explosives were being transported in a pickup truck when the Mizoram Police and the Assam Rifles intercepted the vehicle, seizing it along with two individuals from Mizoram state.

Initial investigations indicate that the seized explosives were meant to be delivered to Burmese armed groups, including PDFs engaged in combat against SAC members, according to the Mizoram Police and the Assam Rifles Battalion.

The Mizoram State Police is investigating the case and seeking additional individuals connected to it. Those arrested have also been charged with possession of explosive materials. The Indian Assam Rifles Battalion supplies weapons, and efforts have been made to thwart attempts to export explosives, with arrests frequently occurring.
