General Min Aung Hlaing, Chairman of the State Planning and Administration Council (SAC), is visiting the People’s Republic of China. This evening, he met with H. E. Mr. Wang Ning, a member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and Secretary of the Yunnan State Party Committee, to discuss matters in Kunming.

During the meeting, H. E. Mr. Wang Ning discussed China’s diplomacy between Yunnan and Myanmar, emphasizing the importance of business dealings. He stated that the two countries can build a community through thick and thin and enhance cooperation in specific fields. Ongoing efforts are being made to combat transnational crime together. He mentioned that steps are being taken to implement the projects agreed upon by both countries as soon as possible.

Afterwards, the SAC chairman stated that China and Myanmar would soon celebrate the 75th anniversary of their diplomatic relations, highlighting that the two nations share a strong bond and are good neighbours. Just as the two countries maintain an unbreakable relationship, Yunnan State and Myanmar are closely linked and will continue to enhance their cooperation.

In addition, to further promote bilateral cooperation between Myanmar and Yunnan, it is essential to focus on the stability and peace of the border region. The chairman of the SAC emphasized the importance of collaborating to enhance stability and peace along the border between the two countries, as the import/export sector can thrive and economic communication can be effectively implemented only when the border region is stable and peaceful.

Additionally, Myanmar possesses numerous valuable resources capable of meeting the food demands of the world’s growing population. The country is open to collaborating on agricultural investments and is eager to attract investment in industries reliant on farming and forestry resources. Furthermore, the chairman of the SAC addressed the circumstances under which Myanmar is prepared to enhance cooperation in various sectors, including education, health, and culture while ensuring the safety and efficiency of bilateral communication.

After that, the conditions for enhancing economic cooperation between Myanmar and Yunnan state were discussed. The focus was on cooperation for the stability and peace of the border region, as well as investment and trade conditions to boost collaboration in the electricity generation sector. They engaged in a friendly and open exchange of views regarding human resources training and production.
