The current stock of chemical fertilizers is over 720,000 tons. Approximately 513,000 tons have been distributed and sold to farmers, while more than 20,000 tons remain in warehouses. This was stated by Union Minister for Agriculture, U Hla Moe, during the coordination meeting of the steering committee for the purchase and distribution of urea fertilizer held yesterday by the Ministry of Agriculture and Irrigation.
According to the companies’ reports, they have obtained licenses for chemical fertilizers, with a total of 810,501.24 tons. Starting from the remaining stock in March and imports from April onward, a total of 721,531.4 tons have been received. As for the amount distributed and sold, it stands at 512,983.84 tons, leaving a remaining stock in the warehouses of 208,548.09 tons, as stated by the Union Minister.
The Union Minister stated that, for pesticides, a total of 12,772.37 tons have been licensed. Starting from the remaining stock in March and imports from April onward, a total of 19,308.76 tons have been received. Of this, 15,978.18 tons have been distributed and sold, leaving a remaining stock of 3,330.58 tons in the warehouses.
The Union Minister stated that the reference prices issued had reached their set period of validity on October 31, and new prices must now be established. The government is proceeding with a competitive pricing system, and sales outlets in regions, states, districts, and townships will adjust their prices based on the reference prices set for Yangon. If there is a significant difference in pricing due to transportation costs or profits at the local sales outlets, closer monitoring and inspection will be conducted to ensure fairness and prevent price manipulation.
