Vice Chairman of SAC: “Award of medals to the winners as well as the promotion of employment opportunities”

Vice-Senior General Soe Win emphasized that plans are underway to promote the festival’s preparation through media campaigns, showcase the event’s preparation activities, and interview participating teams on their training progress.

The Vice-Senior General, who serves as the Patron of the Leading Committee for Organizing the Fifth National Sports Festival 2024 and also holds the position of Vice-Chairman of the State Administration Council Deputy Prime Minister, made these remarks at the fourth meeting of the Fifth National Sports Festival 2024. The meeting was held at the Ministry of Sports and Youth Affairs assembly hall in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday afternoon.

Speaking on the occasion, the Vice-Senior General underlined that upon completion of the festival, victorious medallist athletes representing ministries, regions and states who showed off their excellent skills and talents must be deservedly awarded and promoted their ranks in the workforce as part of encouraging their efforts.

To spark public interest and anticipation, he highlighted plans to promote the festival’s preparation through media campaigns, showcase the event’s preparation activities, and conduct interviews with participating teams on their training progress starting in early November, one month before the festival.

Aimed at competing in the XXXIII SEA Games to be held in December 2025 and other international sports competitions, the Vice-Senior General stressed that those who are skilful in sports techniques must be assigned systematically to select the qualified athletes from the athletes who competed in the 5th National Sports Festival, following the set standards.

The National Sports Festivals have been held four times so far. The first time was held from 3 to 16 May 1992 in Yangon, with 22 sports events; the second time was held from 25 January to 6 February 1994 in Yangon, with 24 sports events; the third was held from 11 to 24 January 1997 in Yangon, with 29 sports events; and the fourth was held from 13 to 28 February 2015 in Nay Pyi Taw, with 27 sports events.
