MNDAA announced that the military dropped two aerial bombs on Lashio City, Shan State, on October 29 at approximately noon today.
A fighter jet dropped three heavy bombs on a residential area near the golf course in Ward (11) of Lashio, injuring one local among the 2,500 religious temples of MNDAA armed raiders in Ward (1). Additionally, the electricity lines in churches and along the roadside were affected. The statement indicated that the buildings sustained damage.
Chairman of the State Planning and Administration Council, Prime Minister Major-General Min Aung Hlaing, stated that armed and violent insurgents must reside in the city. To shield against military counter-offensives in the villages, they utilize residential buildings and civil administration facilities; they employ innocent civilians as a human shield, urging those temporarily displaced to return to their homes; forced recruitment is also being conducted. Consequently, the Myanmar Army will inevitably safeguard the country’s sovereignty and respond as necessary based on the availability of information and the situation of the armed terrorist insurgents. The city they are occupying by force, on September 3, members of the Shan State government advised the villagers to be vigilant about their safety and not to be exploited. State and district-level departmental officials have already been informed.
The bases of organizations labelled as terrorists, including religious schools and golf course offices, were targeted in retaliatory attacks based on information gathered from locations like the homes of former militiamen within residential areas.
“I believe the bombing will cease once they (Kokang) are eliminated. Right now, I want to return home, but I can’t go back,” a Lashio resident in Yangon told MT News.
Additionally, some social network users mentioned that the citizens of Lashio should avoid armed terrorist rebels.
Since the MNDAA was designated a terrorist group, the city of Lashio, where they occupied the base, has experienced over 30 bombings.
