According to the Fisheries Department, beginning 1 April, Myanmar delivered more than 3,470 tonnes of shrimp to international trading partners in the first half of the current financial year 2024-2025, with an estimated value of US$12.33 million.
Between 1 April and 30 September, Myanmar exported 2,860 tonnes of seaborne shrimp valued at $8.87 million, and 616.9 tonnes of shrimp exported across the border valued at $3.47 million.
The country exports fishery products via maritime and land routes to 40 international countries, including Japan, Bangladesh, China, and Thailand. During the first quarter of this financial year (April-September), Myanmar exported more than 160,000 tonnes of fisheries worth $176.3 million, including over 82,000 tonnes worth $110 million through maritime trade and over 78,000 tonnes worth $65 million through border trade.
