YGEA alerted gold shops in Yangon Region to enhance security measures on 22 October 2024.
As part of the warning, CCTV will be installed at the gold shops, home vicinity, and car parking. Additionally, alarm bells, GPS, and front and cabin dashcams will be installed for comprehensive in-vehicle surveillance for vehicles transporting gold and cash. Furthermore, YGEA appreciated the gold shops’ cooperation in preventing robberies.
YGEA issued warnings after the six robbers stole three boxes containing five visses of gold on their way home from a gold shop in Hlaing Township on 21 October.
