The Basic Education General Strike Committee—BEGSC—CEC today called for action against PDFs and PaPaPa groups that are armed and manipulating the interim academic programme being conducted by NUG.
The call, which includes 5 points, is to set a percentage of the education expenditure from the taxes collected in the NUG-controlled areas, allocate education sector officials, investigate NUG schools that charge tuition fees, and identify and prosecute those responsible for discriminating against the right of all children to an equal education.
In addition, armed groups, including the Pa Ka Pha၊ and Pa Ah Pha, manipulate the education sector by using it as propaganda and building influence. NUG, in accordance with the policies on armed groups and armed organizations, the NUG MOD and the political leading organizations of the relevant armed organizations must regulate and enforce them.
Moreover, BEGSC-CEC also requested that school administrators who are trying to eliminate the role of student unions and teacher unions, including the freedom to form student unions with the violation of the federal democratic education policy. The township education officials should be impartially investigated, and if found, the relevant responsible organizations should take corrective action.
