The Central Bank of Myanmar announced yesterday (October 20) that it will sell $35 million worth of motor oil and edible oil in the foreign currency market through the Fx Trading Platform.
Since August 15, when the central bank announced that it would provide 100 million dollars to fuel oil companies, millions of dollars have been sold. From August 1 to October 20, including this additional sale, more than 383 million dollars were sold in more than two and a half months. Similarly, more than 568 million Thai baht and about 31 million Chinese yuan were sold.
The dollar price, which rose to more than 7,000 kyats due to the continuous selling of foreign currencies, fell below 5,000 kyats for the second time since September 27 and has remained below 5,000 kyats until now.
3,554 kyats per dollar on the Central Bank’s Online Trading Platform on October 15 before the Thadingyut holiday, but today, one dollar is trading at 4,450 kyats in the external market.
