Yangon-based social relief organizations have reported that the storm in the Bay of Bengal has caused heavy rains and flooding in several townships in Yangon. In response, these organizations are prepared to carry out rescue operations in case of an emergency.

Forecasts from weather monitoring groups indicate that a cyclone has started to form in the Gulf of Thailand in recent days, and its swift movement suggests it will develop in the Bay of Bengal.
As of this morning, the latest updates indicate that the storm is moving more toward India on October 21. It is expected to reach severe cyclonic storm (SCS) status by October 23, with weather watchers predicting it will approach the Indian coast in the morning.

Due to the storm’s intensity, heavy rainfall is expected. This morning, Mingaladon recorded the highest rainfall at 5.53 inches, followed by Mayangone Township with 4.77 inches. Hlaing Tharyar Township experienced 4.11 inches of rain, leading to flooding in low-lying areas of these townships.
