The population household census will be extended until the end of October for those who remain. According to census groups close to the administration, 90 percent of the census has been collected up to now.

In most regions and provinces, the population census is about 90 percent completed. Still, due to security and transportation conditions in some remote areas, the date of the census has been extended.

“As far as I know, they have enumerated a lot. About 90 percent completed. The reason for the extension of the day is to pick up the places that still need to be picked up, including those in that area,” an administrator in Yangon Region told MT News.

In addition, the household population census enumerates only demographic information, and some census teams did not ask questions about other content that appeared on social networks.

“Now, the census enumeration system is enumerated simultaneously with a tablet. It’s not like enumerating on paper like before. The information is filled in the software on the tablet at once. As a result, it seems the government is also going to E-Government,” added a ward administrator.

According to historical census facts, the population of Myanmar was over 8 million in 1891, over 12 million in 1911, over 11 million in 1921, over 14 million in 1931, and over 16 million in 1941. After that, the population was about 29 million in 1973, over 35 million in 1983 and according to the last census of 2014, the total population of Myanmar was 51.49 million and the population growth rate was 89.0 percent.
