ASEAN navy chiefs and leaders of delegations who would attend the 18th ASEAN Navy Chief’s Meeting hosted by Myanmar paid a courtesy call on Chairman of State Administration Council Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing at the hall of Zeyathiri Villa here this morning.
Present at the meeting together with the Senior General were SAC member Chief of General Staff (Army, Navy and Air) General Maung Maung Aye, Commander-in-Chief (Navy) Vice-Admiral Htain Win, Commander-in-Chief (Air) General Tun Aung, and senior military officers from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief. Navy chiefs and delegation leaders of Brunei, Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, and Philippines, who would attend 18th ASEAN Navy Chief’s Meeting, were present.
At the meeting, the Senior General discussed matters relating to Myanmar’s cooperation with ASEAN through the best way, cooperation to enforce maritime safety in the ASEAN region, requirement of cooperation in natural disaster prevention drills, sharing of experiences in rescue operations and disaster and rehabilitation, and ASEAN naval cooperation during the time when natural disasters strike.
After a nation-wise individual introduction session, navy chiefs and delegation leaders described Myanmar’s hospitality during the meeting and their arrival in Myanmar, and discussed the meeting agenda and further promotion of Myanmar-ASEAN naval cooperation.
The Senior General expressed Myanmar’s desire for close friendship with all ASEAN member states, speaking of the need to forge ASEAN cooperation through full ASEAN spirit in accord with the ASEAN charters, further strengthen and maintain friendship constantly. He thanked them for attending the meeting hosted by Myanmar.
After the meeting, the Senior General and high-level officials from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief and ASEAN navy chiefs and leaders of the delegations posed for documentary photos.
