U Nyan Tun, the Union Minister of the Ministry of Electricity, said that repairs are being made as soon as possible to the Upper Paung loung hydroelectric power plant, which was flooded and damaged due to heavy rains, and foreign experts will be hired if necessary.

Due to heavy rains due to the speed of storm Ragi, water entered the dam and overflowed more than 20 feet from the spillway, causing water to enter the power plant. Power generators were flooded and damaged, and power production was halted.

Currently, it has been announced that engineers from the Hydropower Implementation Department and the Power Generation Industry are working together in order to regenerate, transmit and distribute power as soon as possible.

The Upper Paung loung hydroelectric power plant is built on the Paung loung River, about 26 miles east of Pyinmana, and has a total of 140 MW of installed power with two 70MW power generators, producing about 454 million kilowatt hours of electricity per year through the 230 KV Upper Pyonglong-Nancho power line into the national grid system.
