The Myanmar Rice Federation has informed that it will donate rice bags, seeds, and fertilizers. It will also provide interest-free loans with a capital of 17,500 lakh kyats for agricultural businesses and farmers damaged by the floods.

To provide interest-free loans, 12,500 lakh kyats will be added as non-capital loss through the leading group to protect farmers’ rights and promote interests through the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation.

For the donation of rice, rice seeds and fertilizer, 5,000 lakh will be contributed by the joint donation of the Myanmar Rice Federation’s brotherhood associations, the Myanmar Rice Mills Association, the Myanmar Rice Growers Association, the Myanmar Rice Traders Association and member companies for fertilizer donation programs.

The Myanmar Rice Federation has learned that out of Myanmar’s 15 million acres of rainfed rice and 2 million acres of spring rice, 1 million acres of rainfed rice were affected by floods in this year’s rainy season due to the speed of Typhoon Ragi, and the remaining 14 million acres of rainfed rice can be planted commonly.
