According to Ko Tin Ko Min from Mahagiri Group, the GeoTraveller from Popa to Bagan, where people can study culture and nature, will be launched for the first time. From the coming Thadingyut, tickets for the GeoTraveller tour will be sold once a month on every full moon day.
“Geotourism is now being sold. We plan to sell tickets as the Bagan pagoda festival and dry season approach. The first GeoTraveller tour we started selling for the Thadingyut full moon is for a two-day trip to Bagan — on the first day, people can see Mount Popa from Bagan and study nature. Then we will sleep on Mount Popa and start hiking. We will also take the travellers to the geosites that are convenient to visit,” he said.
Visits to historic Popa and Bagan are an opportunity to learn about Popa’s history, the belief and worship of its spirits, and the Buddha statues carved from its volcanic rock. The presence of forest trees on the Popa platform allows people to feel the differences between hot, cold, and humid climates on the Bagan plains. While walking through the forest, they can study Mount Popa National Geopark’s biodiversity, volcanic rocks, and orchids.
As a result, more pilgrims from Bagan are visiting Popa to experience nature and relax, and the number of people visiting Popa has increased.
