According to travel agencies, local visitors have made preparations for going on vacation in Bagan-NyaungU-Popa and Hpa-an during the Thadingyut holidays, which will start in October. They have booked hotel rooms and bought tour packages.
Due to the flooding, visitor arrivals have been low, but that doesn’t mean the city is at a standstill. As Thadingyut falls in the dry season and has public holidays, there is a possibility that more tourists will arrive at fine destinations, such as Bagan,” said a Bagan resident.
Visitors are arriving more frequently to villages near Mount Popa in the highland, and their numbers are expected to increase during the coming dry season. Bagan, NyaungU, Chaungtha, and Ngwehsaung are famous domestic destinations for their tourist arrivals in October, which is the dry season.
