The Myanmar police announced tonight that they seized 1.478 million methamphetamine pills valued at over 2.2 billion kyat in Kyauk Phyu township along the Rakhine coast.
On September 23, at 4:00 a.m., a joint Tatmadaw (Navy) team in Rakhine State, Kyauk Phyu Township, intercepted a coastal boat along the Rakhine coast. Four individuals—Mya Lwin, Min Min Soe, Thant Zin Naing, and Naing Lin Tun—were arrested along with 1,478,000 methamphetamine pills valued at over 2.2 billion kyats. At 10:00 a.m. on September 24, the seized methamphetamines were transported from Yangon to Pauk Taw Township in Rakhine State. Zaw Min Oo (alias Ko Zaw) and Pyae Phyo Maung, who were involved in the transport, were subsequently arrested at the port of Seikkyi Kanaungto in the Yangon Region.
The arrested defendants are said to have transported the seized psychotropic pills from Shan State to the Yangon Region, then by sea to Rakhine State. Upon discovery, legal action has been initiated against them, and the network of offenders is currently under investigation and identification.
