Rosatom announces progress in small nuclear power plant construction project in Myanmar

Rosatom Director General Alexey Likhachev met with Myanmar’s Union Minister of Electrification Nyan Tun
on the sidelines of Russian Energy Week, the Russian state corporation reported. “The parties positively assessed
the progress achieved in implementing the project to build a low-power nuclear power plant (LPNPP) in the territory
of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar. In addition, they discussed cooperation in the field of wind power development
in the country,” the statement said. Myanmar and Rosatom have completed a preliminary feasibility study (FS)
for the construction of a small nuclear power plant in the country,
and work on the small modular reactor project continues, Nyan Tun said earlier on Thursday,
speaking at Russian Energy Week.
