Dawei Township, located in the Tanintharyi Region’s Yae-Dawei Railway Section, The State Planning and Administration Council’s press release team announced today that a terrorist insurgent group has destroyed Bridge No. 606, known as Maung Mae Xiao Bridge, which connects Ye Phyu and Dawei Station.

In the process, the Tanintharyi Region, specifically Dawei Township within the Yae-Dawei railway section, between Yae Phyu Station and Dawei Station; Bridge No. 606 at milepost No. 364/11-12; Maung Mae Xiao Bridge was attacked by a terrorist insurgent group on the evening of September 25th. They destroyed the two steel frames of the bridge due to mine detonation. Currently, two horizontal iron frames, two 75-pound rails, two guard rails, and unique wooden sleepers for the bridge are being manufactured to repair the damages and defects as quickly as possible.

As terrorist insurgent groups, from February 2021 until now, there have been 79 instances of demining and destruction of railways and train stations across the entire Myanmar railway network, along with 172 demining operations on train bridges and tracks. It has been reported that they committed 16 arson attacks on station buildings and staff homes.
