Arakan State, controlled by the AA, reported to MT News that an airstrike occurred on the morning of September 26 in Thandwe Town, Rakhine State.
The AA group governs the city of Thandwe, and the newly constructed town hall and environmental protection office, located on the site of the former football field in front of the Thandwe police station, were struck by airstrikes while AA armed men and their families were settling in.
As a result of the airstrike, the family members of AA armed men were primarily affected, with at least ten people killed and over 20 injured, a resident of Thandwe on General Road informed MT News.
“Yes, they do die. They were also injured, and more than ten people lost their lives. About 20 others were hurt. We didn’t go to see it. My father-in-law and I stay at home; the rest are in Yangon. In our Thandwe, the northerners have now arrived. Being from the north, they are AA. What is their purpose for coming to Thandwe? If Thandwe is peaceful, the city’s inhabitants will be too. A city steeped in history. As for Space Fly City Thandwe, it is a city that has never been attacked, even in ancient history. It is a peaceful city indeed.
If they place AA on the surface, AA’s big lady will come, along with the children. They exist in a state of confinement, akin to housing war refugees in the city hall. Now, most locals in Thandwe have relocated to Yangon. “Only a handful remain,” a local informed MT News.
After AA was reclassified as a terrorist group on September 2, it announced on September 5 that it had captured Thandwe City. This attack also resulted in injuries to AA armed men.
