Chairman of State Administration Council Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, accompanied by Chief of General Staff (Army, Navy and Air) General Maung Maung Aye, Commander-in-Chief (Navy) Vice-Admiral Htain Win, senior military officers from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief and officials, inspected undertakings for peace and stability in PyinOoLwin Station area, Central Command HQ yesterday and today.
At Nawadae Hall of Defence Services Academy, Command Commander BrigGen Kyaw Ko Htike and the PyinOoLwin Station commander reported on measures to ensure peace, stability and security in the station area, seizure of arms and ammunition from terrorist insurgents while carrying out security duties.
In response, the Senior General said the station area needs systematic undertakings for security and peace and stability.
In carrying out area organizing activities and area control activities, security personnel must have a comprehensive knowledge about the situation and facts of the area they are assigned to, and to carry out the security duties with the participation of locals through mutual assistance and indivisible unity between local military units and local people.
During inspection of 6-storey Thumingala Market (Nyandaw Market) project this afternoon, the Senior General heard a report on progress of work, market ring road and parking lots, inclusion of lifts and ordinary stairways, systematic construction of the market as a public place, layerwise plans for shops, inclusion of playgrounds and theatres and installation of solar panels presented by Mandalay Region Chief Minister U Myo Aung.
As regards the reports, the Senior General said a development project must take worksite safety and proper drainage and ventilation into account. Hence, drains must be systematically constructed. Supervision is required for systematic arrangement of shops after the completion of construction works.
The storey which will house food courts must be cleaned and has proper water and electricity supply systems.
As lifts need constant power supply, solar power system must be installed as a backup.
The aim of the new market project is to meet the growing population and tourist arrivals of PyinOoLwin and to serve as a one stop shopping centre.
It must be an ideal market that sells local meet, fish, vegetables and fruits in systematic packages. Pre-planning is required to ensure adequate parking areas, systematically open restaurants and shops during the festival seasons when the number of domestic and foreign visitor arrivals is high.
The Senior General looked around the market project, observing the ongoing works and giving guidance for work progress and facilitation.
The Senior General and party paid homage to historic Maha Shwe Myintin Pagoda in PyinOoLwin. First, the Senior General offered flowers and water and paid homage to the Buddha Image of the pagoda.
He then paid homage to the pagoda clock wise, gave guidance on constant maintenance of the pagoda and presented donations for multiple sectors of the pagoda through the pagoda board of trustees chair.
The Senior General and party paid homage to the Buddha Image at Buddha’s Parda Footprint Hall and went round the pagoda clock wise.
