The Myanmar Port Authority has warned that the Yangon River, which experienced an exceptional high tide between September 17 and 23, will rise again in early October.
Last September 17th to 23rd, it was warned that the possibility of exceptional high tide will rise to about 22 feet. In the period from October 3rd to October 6th, 2024, the height of the Yangon River from about 20.01 feet to about 20.18 feet above the basic water level is likely to be higher than normal.
The Myanmar Port Authority has also issued a notice to warn people living near the riverbanks to be prepared when the estimated tide height of the Yangon River may exceed 20 feet above the base water line.
