Businesspersons must seek official Hundi licenses to run the hundi services, Governor of the Central Bank of Myanmar Daw Than Than Swe said.
The governor made this comment during the meeting with businesspersons who are running hundi services from Tachileik and Muse townships without seeking official licenses in Nay Pyi Taw on 5 November.
At the meeting, she focused on seeking official Hundi licenses and issues on Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Financing of Terrorism.
She discussed the implementations of Anti- Laundering and Counter-Financing of Terrorism by the country, the risk of foreign remittances, official Hundi licenses for Baht-Kyat and Yuan-Ky6at programmes in border areas.
The officials from the Financial Intelligence Unit and Bureau of Special Investigation reported on issues of the foreign remittances on Anti- Laundering and Counter-Financing of Terrorism.
Afterwards, the director of the Foreign Exchange Management Department of the CBM presented foreign remittance licenses and work licenses for foreign exchange.
