Due to severe flooding caused by heavy rainfall from Typhoon Yagi, mobile operators have provided free communication services to flood-battered communities as part of their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives.
Mobile operators offered free calls and SMS from 13 to 19 September to assist flood-stricken mobile phone users. Various telecommunication providers also announced additional support for flood-affected regions.
From 20 to 26 September, Myanma Posts and Telecommunications (MPT) will offer a free 700-minute call and 700 free SMS. ATOM Myanmar Ltd will also provide 300 minutes of free calls and 300 SMS messages from 20 to 22 September. Meanwhile, Ooredoo Myanmar has announced unlimited free calls and SMS from 20 to 26 September. Telecom International Myanmar Co Ltd (MYTEL) also offers 1,000 minutes of free calls and 1,000 SMS messages from 21 to 30 September.
