The National Disaster Management Committee has informed that the reception of donations for flood affected people will be held in 8 states and districts on September 21 at 2:00 pm.
Donations will be accepted in a ceremony in Nay Pyi Taw, Karen State, Bago Region, Mandalay Region, Mon State, Yangon Region, Shan State, and Ayeyarwady Region on September 21 (Saturday) at 2:00 p.m. in order to support the people affected by floods.
Those who wish to donate can contact the relevant regional state governments and the Ministry of Social Welfare Relief and Resettlement of the Department of Disaster Management, Daw Ley Lat Aye (Director General) on phone 09-2021491, U Win Shwe (Deputy Director General) on phone 09-25417011, and Daw Su Su Tun (Director) on phone 09-43009291.
In 56 townships, including the Nay Pyi Taw council area, where water entered the townships of the region and the state, according to the statistics obtained until 7:00 a.m. on September 19, 4,471 houses were damaged, 168,704 houses were submerged, 293 people died and 89 people were missing.
At present, a total of 425 flood relief centers have been opened and 16,1592 people in 47,019 households are being provided with relief and necessary assistance.
In addition, 113 office/department buildings, 919 schools, 331 religious buildings, some roads/bridges, electricity poles and communication poles were damaged by flooding. A total of 129,150 animals were killed and 766,586 acres of rice and crops were inundated.
