Yangon Electricity Supply Corporation is going to implement Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) system in 25 townships of Nay Pyi Taw, Yangon and Mandalay, Union Minister for Electric Power U Thaung Han said during his inspection tour to AMI Control Center in Nay Pyi Taw on 5 November.
Analogue and Off-site Meter Reading (OMR) system which is installed in states and regions has been substituted with the AMI system.
AMI system has been installed in eight townships of Nay Pyi Taw, 14 townships of Yangon and three townships of Mandalay; and the construction of AMI Control Centre has completed by cent per cent, the Union Minister said.
As the installation of AMI system connecting with Control Centre starts to carry out collecting the electricity bill, controlling and monitoring, arrangements are underway to expand the AMI system in nationwide annually, he added.
People will be able to view and check the electricity bill, and they will be able to pay the electricity bill over the phone as well.
