According to some shopkeepers, many people buy consumer goods in the market to donate to the people affected by the flood, and the sellers sell at the lowest profit margin.
“People are coming to buy items to support those affected by the flood. These days, individuals and organizations purchase goods from nearly every store, often in large quantities. We sell with a small profit margin and offer the biggest discounts because it’s for donations. The main items they buy are pillows, blankets, mosquito nets, and towels. Some shoppers head to the plaza, while others buy from the market,” said a vendor at Pazundaung market who sells consumer goods.
“Now, well-wishers are donating new ones. Charities and generous individuals make lots of donations. They buy many clothes and appliances when it comes to new things,” said one of the relief activists in flood-hit Toungoo.
The market is selling briskly, with many buyers purchasing items worth a few thousand kyats to tens of thousands of kyats. In the past, pillows, mats, blankets, and mosquito nets were usually sold more during the cold season. #flood #donate #mtnews #mtnewsupdate
