According to the reports released by the Central Bank of Myanmar(CBM) on September 16 (yesterday), after the Central Bank sold an additional USD 5 million, it has sold approximately USD 230 million over the past month and a half.
The CBM announced that it would provide USD 100 million to fuel importers, and since August 15, millions of dollars have been sold. From August 1 to September 4, around USD 206 million has been sold.
Additionally, CBM sold 90,000 dollars on September 5, 100,000 on September 6, and 230,000 on September 13. Including the recent sale of 5 million dollars, approximately 211 million dollars have been sold in total from August 1 to the present, over a month and a half.
Furthermore, the Central Bank announced on September 12 that 10 million dollars would be sold for fuel and 7 million dollars for cooking oil, totaling 17 million dollars. However, no specific date for the sale was mentioned. If this 17 million dollars is included in the calculation, the total amount sold over a month and a half would reach 228 million dollars.
In recent days, the dollar exchange rate fell below 5,000 kyats, but due to speculation by black-market traders, it rose back to 5,600 kyats per dollar on September 11. As of today, the rate remains above 5,000 kyats, currently standing at 5,100 kyats per dollar.
